Ministry of Enkindled is a Singapore education resource for parents. We write about tuition, school transitions and the decisions that come with them — including the ones where the honest answer is that tuition is not what your child needs.
Who we are
We are Singapore parents and educators who have been through the same decisions you are making — the PSLE year, the jump to secondary school, the question of whether a weekly session is worth it. We write from that experience rather than from a marketing brief.
What this site is for
Most tuition content in Singapore exists to sell tuition. It tells you that more hours are better, that the right centre will transform a grade, and that every child needs help.
This site is written to help you decide instead. Our articles start from a marked paper: where the marks are actually going, what kind of problem that points to, and which of the available options addresses it. Sometimes that is a tutor. Often it is a checking habit, a conversation with the school, or a free remedial slot nobody asked about.
How we are different
Three things, consistently:
We diagnose before we recommend. A gap in content, a gap in method and a careless-error problem look identical on a report card and need completely different responses. Every subject article we publish starts by helping you tell them apart.
We say when not to spend. Tuition has a ceiling, and past a certain point additional hours reduce progress rather than adding to it. We say so, including on pages where it would be easier not to.
We do not publish figures we cannot stand behind. Fees, eligibility bands and syllabus details change. Where a number would date, we tell you who to ask instead of guessing.
Why we exist
Singapore parents are not short of opinions about education. They are short of a straight answer to a specific question about their own child.
That is the gap this site tries to fill: practical, current, and written for the parent doing this for the first time. If a page here saves you a term of the wrong arrangement, it has done its job.
